DIY Push Button Start

So I was excited to see a package come for me in the mail today!!! Like a kid in a Honda Shop :thumb::ohyeah:

This DIY was very straight forward for the DC5 if you buy the true Push Button Start... Tools needed were Flathead/phillips screw driver, (possibly dremel) 10mm Bolt, and 10mm wrench.

First this is what your standard setup looks like

First thing is take a small flat head screw driver and pry out the OEM bezel

Now unclip the stock button harnesses

After that you can press in the side buttons to release the switches from the bezel

Next get your new wiring harness organized

Here is where you may need to dremel. Depending on what you buy. You need to cut out the bar separating the bezel for the buttons. I bought one already assembled and didn't have to. But it's only takes a second. You could use a sharp knife too if no dremel is available.

Now we'll start taking apart the dash pieces. First remove the bottom piece

Then use a phillips screw driver to remove the three screws holding on the steering column cover

From there we start wiring it up! Remove the OEM ignition plug. It's the big brown one. Can't miss it!

Then just plug and play the new one!

Now make sure your relays are set and your grounds. For my ground I connected it to the relay box and used the 10mm bolt and bolted to a welded nut location shown here

Now bolt it down. I used a gear wrench which made it easier. Here is an outside shot to see it's location

Now pull the wire through the bezel hole and connect to bezel. Now from the factory I had three buttons (Cruise, Fogs and Sunroof) What I did was kept the sunroof button. I then connected the cruise switch but hid it behind the bezel with cruise selected to "on" and tucked it back.

Now I took my fog light wiring harness and ran it down and into my change drop.

So now I have three functioning switches and a push button start!!

How does push start work anyway? You turn the key to on and then hold the clutch and push the button?
