you steel shooters are a rare breed. Going out in the desert when it's hot as shit out there and throwing buckets full of lead in to unsuspecting targets ad infinitum. I'd need to pick up some m9's if I wanted to do coursework like that. Can't be stopping every 8 shots to reload my 45's.

Didn't know I could go out there with a 12ga.

LOL well it isnt all steel and it is some great 'training' plenty of guys shoot 45's... this is 3 gun not just a pistol match. Time to round out the skill set man! Its nice to shoot 'as if' you were in real life!

There is a class you would probably be interested in called He-Man or Heavy Metal... Basically a 1911 .45, pump 12ga, and 308 or greater for rifle thats all you buddy!

And true given it was hot as hell we are out there when its cold and your hands hurt too!

Forcing weapon manipulation is key to proficency! For example guys can get off so much easier than women cause we been manipulating our weapons since we were kids right!? LOL

Peace

everybody's excuse is I dont have the gear I want yet...

if you want an auto shotgun run a pump til you get it...

if you want a scope run your irons til you get it...

if you want a higher capacity handgun run your low cap til you get one...

I dont want to look like a total noob...

everyone has to start somewhere right...? you didnt get better at driving a manual by waiting til you finally got that stage 4 clutch before really driving?

And if SHTF tomorrow then thats the gear you are stuck with, better be a badass with what you got then a mall ninja who's never worn their gear for live fire drills

take your life in your own hands cause you cant trust anyone else with it, empower yourself!

Peace

Does it cost to show up? I only have P220 and the ammo you reloaded for me Les. But I'd love to go plink some.

Also, I want to get my CCW finally. Any suggestions on who to go see, etc? Preferably east valley since that's close to me.

If you are just running a handgun and need some range time to brush up on fundamentals I am gonna try and set something up in the near future(also when it cools down) for some basic range time for those interested whether you have a gun or not.
I am always willing to go and shoot with people if they'd like, I personally usually shoot up by table mesa if its desert plinking. Crymson the two closest places to you are going to be Scottsdale Gun Club and Shooters World but you must pay at both places. Individual lanes also tend to be poor places to try and instruct and give pointers due to the douche next to you shooting something ridiculous and general poor safety by said douches.
Generally I dont 'practice' as much as I attend and participate in matches(note to self... need to practice more!) I consider the small local matches I shoot as a kind of practice...

That being said on Tuesdays at 530pm at Phoenix Rod and Gun Club there is the IDPA(International Defensive Pistol Assn.) match and that is fun cause we have our own squad(cause my buddies and I made up our own class and dont follow ALL of the non-applicable IDPA rules). It allows you to shoot 4 diff scenarios addressing multiple targets often shooting while moving and from cover, sometimes we shoot from, around, over, etc a vehicle... fun stuff!!!

Tuesday night IDPA clif notes...
1. show up in comfortable clothes, close toe shoes, sneakers, eye and ear protection
2. bring plenty of water at least
2.5. bring $10(match fee)
3. bring a gun
4. bring strong side holster for gun(no shoulder or cross draw holsters). Mag holders also nice but not required you can load from your pockets
5. bring enough magazines to fire at least 25 rounds(Crymson 3 mags for you is ok since they hold 8 in a P220)
6. bring 100rds of ammo
7. bring an open mind and have fun

If anyone wants to shoot this let me know and I will be sure to be there(I'm generally there every week though). Spectators are welcome(and free) but you should still have #1 and #2

Alot of people make a point of "but wait you dont need a ccw anymore" true you dont, but if you want to travel outside AZ there are alot of states that recognize our ccw and honor it. Thus allowing you to carry there too, which you should cause being from out of state makes you more of a target since boogiemen think you are the least likely to be armed. The only guy I would suggest and also the cheapest is John from BlackWolf but he is west valley, I can't suggest anyone out eastside

Peace

^^^ Just because the law doesn't require a CCW doesn't mean it is any less mandatory in my mind. Everyone should have a range and general weapon safety class.

Good info there. I don't think i still have your number, can you shoot me a text? Might be fun to hook up on Tuesday and go shoot.

Also, my P220 has the old 7-round mags, not the 8. So 3 is only 21 for me. 22 with one in the pipe.
